Whats New At ROK?

Posted by Jason Harris on Feb 6, 2015 4:14:16 PM

The holidays are over and things are heating up...

We sure hope that everyone had a great holiday and a happy new year!  Since finishing up our eggnog, we have been hard at work creating new useful apps, upgrading existing ones, and expanding our growing GIS infrastructure.  We thought this would be a great time to fill you in on all the cool stuff we are up to.

Take a minute to check out our latest blog posts or check out some of our new apps! As always, give us a shout if you want to chit chat or talk techie with one of our resident GIS nerds.  We've got some cool stuff going on at ROK, and we'd love to tell you about it.

ROK Is Your GIS Instant Enterprise

We are continuing to grow our GIS focused, cloud based infrastructure. Wait, huh? It just means you have less to worry about. We manage the GIS hardware & software - and you get to focus on your work. From virtualized cloud hosted ArcGIS desktops, to enterprise geodatabases, to hosted ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online - ROK is the Instant Enterprise

Who is ROK Anyway?

Well, we are a bunch of different people that share one thing in common.  We are all passionate about GIS and technology.  For this edition of Meet The ROK'ers, lets get some facts on Emma Paz, Application Developer.

  • Emma was born in Honduras, grew up in Chicago, and is settling right here in Charleston.
  • Biology major/environmental science "master" turned Techie.
  • She is a major sports/games enthusiast--losing to Emma is never an option
  • Coffee, music & NPR lover, at all times of the day (like a true Millennial)
  • Emma is also quite the foodie.  She's also been spotted volunteering, driving a stick-shift, and doing arts & crafts

Some interesting projects we have been up to...

Homestead Exemption

Are you like most places?  Do you apply for homestead exemptions on paper?  Well, time to cut down on that clutter and lost files. ROK has developed the solution to that mess... its our online Homestead Exemption application.  It leverages your existing GIS to make applying for the exemption super easy for the public.  Imagine all those people that  won't be in your office!

Still using that legacy system to file your permits?  Or gasp, paper?  Have no fear, ROK is here.  With ROK Permits, you won't get a bloated system of functions you can't use.  We've streamlined the permitting process to take full advantage of your existing investment in GIS.
